This is a T-shirt design featuring lyrics from the song “Ivy” by Frank Ocean. The song reflects on his mistakes and explores a failed relationship. With Frank’s vocals laid over melancholic production, his voice can be heard with an altered effect in order to make it sound younger to better encapsulate the emotions of young love. Parts of the song show Frank drowning in tears and filled with anger. The lyrics tell of an intense love story between two people who, despite the breakdown of the relationship, still carry feelings of love deep down. The chorus contains the narrator's reminiscing on the start of their relationship, and how it unexpectedly happened. The first lines of the song, “I thought that I was dreamin' when you said you love me. The start of nothin', I had no chance to prepare, I couldn't see you comin',” although he was in love and blissfully unaware at the beginning, overtime both parties ended up hurting each other. Furthermore, he could mean by having “no time to prepare” that he wanted to be a better version of himself before the relationship started. But because they jumped into this unexpected love, perhaps he still had internal issues he was dealing with, and ended up hurting the other person as a result. He implies that both were naievé and innocent at the time, and how the pain of the breakup changed him. “We didn't give a fuck back then, I ain't a kid no more, We'll never be those kids again.” Despite the pain of the break-up, the narrator reflects on the special memories shared between them. “Ooh, I could hate you now, It's quite alright to hate me now, But we both know that deep down, The feeling still deep down is good.” The children in this design are taken from a drawing done by artist Andrew Scott.
